Frequently Asked Questions
I have a senior dog, do you have any suggestions for them as they slow down?
Your older dog still loves everything they used to, just at a slower pace. And their sense of smell never gets old.
Try giving them a snuffle toy, so that they can still enjoy a good sniffing game and get a few well deserved treats at the same time.
I am about to start puppy classes, what should I get?
Your trainer should have given you a list for classes, but in case they haven't, here are some things I would recommend:
Poo Bags
A small toy, preferably without a squeaker - This will help occupy your pup while you listen to the trainer .
Good quality training treats - the smellier the better! Pups will work for rewards, making your training experience much more positive.
Settle mat - Classes are often in a hall so it gives pup something to chill on. It's also great for starting place or bed training.
Treat pouch - working handsfree and creating predictability for your pup is a great start. They'll learn that when the treat pouch comes out, so does the good stuff!
Longline - This is a fantastic piece of kit for training recall. When not in a class, you can pair it with a whistle to really nail that recall.
A chew - A long lasting chew is a really good idea when you're teaching pups to settle or chill. It gives them a reason to stay on their beds/Mat. Just make sure it's not too hard, especially when they're teething. If you can make a small indent with your nail, it should be good for them. Just make sure you supervise them, so they don't swallow any large pieces.
My dog has so much energy. No matter how long we walk for, my dog doesn't get tired.
The more we walk our dogs, the more they need to be walked.
There are so many ways to tire out our dogs, in addition to just walks. Chewing, Sniffing, Licking, Puzzle Solving and Play are just some of the ways that you can create an all-round experience for your dog, that not only tires them out, but it also promotes wellness and grows your bond with them.
How do I stop my dog chewing my furniture?
Have a look at what your dog is chewing and try to offer them an alternative 'Legal Chew' that matches the texture of what they're chewing. So for example, if they're chewing your table legs, try something like an Ostrich Bone that is similar in texture. They're chewing because they enjoy it, so let's swap it for a good thing.
What should I put on a Lickmat/Slow feeder?
You can put a wide range of products on a lickmat or slow feeder. We recommend dog safe pate, Dog safe Peanut butter, Natural Yoghurt, wet food, banana, Pumpkin powder mixed with water, squashes, kibble soaked in water.... the list is endless! Drop us a message for more suggestions.

What does Enrichment mean?
Enrichment is a form of true socialisation for your dog. It's a way to give them problem solving outlets, to help with their confidence, as well as giving them outlets. By working their brains, we give our dogs choices and decisions to make, which realises endorphins - making them a happy dog!
